Studying

I missed last Friday's Weekend DIY post because I have hit crunch time for my engineering exam! It's a been a long 6 months since I turned in my application, and I can't believe the first test is happening this Friday. Two more tests follow that and then I'm home free! I won't be posting Weekend DIY posts for the next couple of weeks because of this, so I'll see you all regularly again at the end of April, and hopefully soon after that I will be able to reopen my Etsy shop.

Lists

I love lists. I love making little bullet points. I love checking things off. I love writing every thought out to keep myself organized. So I created a downloadable To Do list to share it with you all! I currently keep a planner for future festivities, but I'm always thinking of small errands to run during the day and these will be handy to write them down on and throw away once my errands are completed. Enjoy!

Oh Happy Day Screenprinting

On Saturday, Kait and I were lucky enough to attend one of Oh Happy Day's screen printing workshops at her studio sponsored by Bing. We had such a great time! We spent the first part of the 2 hours learning from Andy Kane about the process of screen printing and how to make your own screens (time consuming and difficult, but I really want to try it sometime). Andy was a great teacher and easy to follow despite the seemingly complicated content. Then onto the printing!

American Apparel supplied everyone with one (super soft) tri-blend t-shirt for printing. Jordan (of Oh Happy Day) encouraged us to bring anything else we wanted to screen print in addition to our free shirt and tote. And everyone took it to heart! People brought such fun things, including clutches, onsies, aprons, and lunch bags. I was not as creative, and simply brought t-shirts for my nieces, my sister, and my man. I love how they turned out though!

We were given the cutest goody bags on the way out -- They had Caldrea hand soap, a fun paper garland from Makeshop, 3 pocket-size notebooks from a store called Plumb Goods, and hipster temporary Tattly tattoos.

I would absolutely love to take another class from Oh Happy Day, not to mention figure out how to make my own screens so I can screen print calligraphy all day every day! Thank you to Oh Happy Day for such a great afternoon, and thank you to Bing for sponsoring it! Let's do it again soon.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Menu Planning Download

One of my goals after I move into a new apartment this month is to cook more dinners. It is a huge cost saver and I surprisingly don't hate cooking as much as I did a year ago. Mostly because I've discovered cooking chicken is way easier than I thought, and also I am fairly tired of ramen and frozen things. Just kidding, I would never get sick of ramen. But seriously, I will be cooking more over the next year, so to help me out, I created a weekly dinner menu planner to print out and write over the weekend. This way I can go grocery shopping on a more consistent basis -- Right now I go around every 4 months. I eat all of my food in 2 weeks. The remainder of the time I eat out. Do the math. It's not good for my wallet. Plus, now I'll have more than just myself to cook for, which means more motivation! We'll see how long this lasts.

I made my simple weekly menu planner available for you all to download in case you're cooking/grocery shopping challenged like yours truly. Just download, print it out, cut each sheet in half and bind together in some fashion. Done and done. Now go find some recipes!
